Bitcoin vs Gold: Which Is The Best Investment In 2025? |
Despite its earlier successes, Bitcoin has encountered challenges in the first quarter of 2025, with a year-to-date (YTD) decline of 10.2% and a 2.71% drop in just the past week.
Not everyone interprets this as a negative indicator. Tom Lee, the co-founder of Fundstrat, maintains a positive outlook. He predicts that Bitcoin will emerge as the top-performing asset this year, potentially outpacing gold. This is a daring forecast, but is it credible?
Bitcoin vs. Gold: Who is Ahead?
Gold experienced a robust performance in 2024, increasing by 27.44%. In contrast, Bitcoin outshone it with a remarkable rise of 121.1% during the same timeframe.
However, the dynamics have shifted this year. Gold's year-to-date growth stands at approximately 13.7%, while Bitcoin has seen a decline of 10.2%.
Bitcoin's sluggish start has sparked concerns regarding its capacity to rival gold as the most reliable store of value. Nevertheless, Lee remains assured that Bitcoin will surpass gold's performance by the end of the year.

Could Bitcoin Reach $150,000 This Year?
Tom Lee forecasts that Bitcoin may hit $150,000 by the end of 2025. But can investors rely on his prediction?
His history of Bitcoin forecasts has been a mix of both accurate and inaccurate calls. Nevertheless, as a co-founder of Fundstrat, a highly regarded financial research firm, his insights are taken seriously.
It remains to be seen whether Bitcoin will recover and surpass gold in performance. One thing is clear: 2025 is poised to be an exhilarating year for cryptocurrency investors.
As the competition between Bitcoin and Gold continues, only time will reveal which asset will ultimately prevail.
